Lynn Pascoe - Piece Work

My latest body of work is based on the theme of agricultural workers.

Coming from a farming family, I was privileged to be able to draw and photograph a team of Ukrainians in their working environment in Cornwall.

Many visits over an 18-month period, have allowed me to reflect upon the presence of these men and women - to think about their place/displacement and about issues of identity.

My main medium is printmaking, using a variety of techniques such as monotype, woodcut, linocut and etching. I use qualities of light and dark to emphasise aspects of the atmosphere of the workplace and to present my reactions to a place.

By personalising the immigrant workers, I hope to have taken away some of the generalization surrounding them, and in doing so, present them not just as a part of the system but also as individuals.
