About the artist

American artist Andy Warhol is best known for his images of Campbell’s soup tins and Marilyn Monroe. As part of the Pop art movement, his subject matter was diverse from Jackie Kennedy to race riots and the electric chair, with the purpose being to demystify major themes as fame and death. He also made many films and was the manager of the cult rock bank The Velvet Underground. Warhol was a contemporary of Lichtenstein and Kruger, and has had a huge influence on the subsequent generation of artists.
