About the artist

Sonia Delaunay along with her husband Robert Delaunay, developed a brand of Cubism now referred to as Orphic Cubism. It was founded on the belief that light and colour were identical and aimed for a purity of expression like music. She drew on her influences from Gauguin and the Fauves to develop her love of colour, creating fashion, book and costume designs, which had a huge international importance.
